ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Functional Assessment in Liver Transplantation," is studying how a patient's functional status, or level of frailty, affects their outcomes before and after receiving a liver transplant. The goal is to create fair and scientific ways to assess frailty in people with severe liver disease (cirrhosis) to help determine who should receive a transplant. This is especially important because current methods have not been tailored to this specific group of patients, who might experience faster declines in their health.
To participate in the trial, you need to be an adult (18 years or older) who is either already on the liver transplant list or has been evaluated and approved to be listed when they reach the right priority. You should also be able to visit an outpatient clinic for your appointments. However, if you have severe liver-related confusion (called hepatic encephalopathy), you won’t be eligible to join. Participants will undergo various assessments to measure their functional status, and the findings will help improve the liver transplant process for everyone.
