ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new approach to help men who have been violent towards their partners and also struggle with alcohol or drug abuse. Researchers want to see if a personalized motivational plan can help these men stick with their treatment programs, which are designed to reduce violence and substance abuse. Many men who attend these programs drop out, so the goal is to create a plan that meets their specific needs and encourages them to stay engaged in the treatment.
To participate in this study, men must be convicted of intimate partner violence and have issues with alcohol or drugs, but they should not have severe psychological disorders. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: one will receive the standard treatment plus the new motivational plan, while the other will get standard treatment with a general motivational plan. Throughout the study, researchers will check how well the participants are doing, focusing on their substance use, their attitudes towards violence, and their psychological well-being, both during and after the treatment. This research aims to find better ways to support men in overcoming their issues and preventing future violence.
