ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different methods of performing surgery for a condition called an inguinal hernia, which is a common issue where tissue bulges through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles. The researchers want to see if using a robot-assisted approach is better or worse than the traditional method when it comes to recovery after the surgery. They are also looking at whether injecting a local anesthetic into the surgery sites helps with pain management.
To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult between the ages of 65 and 74 who is scheduled for laparoscopic surgery to repair a bilateral inguinal hernia (which means hernias on both sides). Unfortunately, if you are under 18, have a hernia on just one side, or have other specific health issues, you would not be eligible to join. If you decide to take part, you can expect close monitoring during your recovery to help understand how each method affects healing and comfort after surgery. Your involvement could contribute to better understanding and improving hernia repair techniques in the future.
