ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how frailty, or weakness and decreased ability to perform daily activities, affects patients who are having heart or vascular surgery. The study is being conducted at Cliniques Universitaires Saint Luc in Brussels and aims to understand how frailty is related to recovery after surgery and the risk of serious complications.
To participate in this trial, patients should be between the ages of 65 and 74 and need to be undergoing cardiac or vascular surgery that requires a heart-lung machine. However, those who have certain severe liver conditions or are undergoing emergency surgeries are not eligible. If you or a loved one is participating, you can expect to be assessed for frailty before the surgery, which will help doctors better understand your health and improve care during recovery.
