ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on developing a new questionnaire called the MOBI Questionnaire, which aims to better understand how wearing a brace affects the lives of adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis. Scoliosis is a condition that causes the spine to curve, and the best non-surgical treatment for it is wearing a brace for 20 to 23 hours a day. However, many young patients struggle with wearing the brace due to discomfort and concerns about their self-image, often only wearing it for about 12 hours a day. This study is important because it seeks to measure how the brace impacts young people's quality of life, comfort, and daily activities, which can help doctors encourage better compliance with the treatment.
To join this study, participants must be between 10 and 16 years old, diagnosed with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, and currently wearing a brace. They should also be able to read and understand English or French. Throughout the trial, participants will complete the new questionnaire, which is designed to capture their experiences and feelings about wearing the brace. This information will help healthcare providers make adjustments to improve the treatment experience for young patients. Overall, this study aims to create a valuable tool that can support better treatment outcomes for adolescents with scoliosis.
