ClinConnect Summary

The Women's Advanced Risk-assessment in Manitoba trial is studying how well new tools can identify women who are at risk for heart disease. The goal is to create a cardiovascular health screening program at St. Boniface Hospital to help detect potential heart problems in women aged 55 and older. Researchers aim to follow 1,000 Manitoba women over five years after their screening to see how accurately these tests can predict future heart-related issues. Additionally, the study will look for new biological markers in blood and stool samples that may indicate an increased risk for heart disease.

To be eligible for this study, participants must be women aged 55 or older and have a Manitoba Personal Health Information Number. However, women who have a history of certain heart conditions or have been advised against physical activity cannot participate. If you join the study, you can expect to undergo cardiovascular screening and provide samples for future research, all while contributing to important knowledge about heart health in women.
