ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how exercise and nutrition can help patients who are scheduled for urologic surgery and will need to stay in the hospital after the procedure. The goal is to see if being more active or following a specific nutrition plan can reduce complications after surgery. Eligible participants are those aged 65 to 74 who are preparing for surgery that requires an overnight hospital stay. They need to be willing to provide a blood sample and complete some questionnaires.
Participants in the study will be divided into two groups. One group will start a physical fitness plan where they will aim for 10,000 steps per day and do strength training exercises three times a week. The other group will follow a nutrition plan, consuming a liquid nutrition supplement twice a day for five days before and after their surgery. Throughout the trial, participants will keep track of their activity or nutrition intake. This study is currently recruiting, and there are no specific exclusions, making it open to many patients who meet the criteria.
