ClinConnect Summary
The TOngue/Palate Interactions Study is a clinical trial that aims to understand how wearing a complete denture affects the way people speak and swallow. Researchers will use special sensors placed in a model of the denture to measure the pressures from the tongue against the roof of the mouth during these activities. This study will help improve the experience for new denture wearers by providing insights into how dentures influence speech and swallowing.
To participate in this study, individuals must be at least 18 years old and have lost all their teeth, requiring dentures. There are two groups: one for those who are new to wearing dentures and another for those who have had dentures for over a year. Important criteria for participation include being affiliated with French Social Security and not having certain medical or language issues. If eligible, participants can expect to take part in experiments at the Hospices Civils de Lyon, where their experiences with dentures will contribute to better understanding and future improvements in denture design.
