ClinConnect Summary

The HipSTHeR trial is studying the best way to treat a specific type of hip fracture, known as an undisplaced femoral neck fracture, in older patients. This trial will compare two treatment options: using screws to hold the bone together (called internal fixation) versus replacing the hip joint with an artificial one (called arthroplasty). The goal is to see if hip replacement can help reduce the number of patients who need additional surgeries later on.

To participate in this trial, patients need to have an undisplaced femoral neck fracture that occurred within the last 72 hours. They must be treated at one of the hospitals involved in the study and give their consent to join. The trial is open to all adults, regardless of gender, and is currently looking for volunteers. Participants can expect close monitoring and care throughout the study, and their involvement will help researchers find the best treatment for this type of injury in older adults.
