ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking into the role of the sympathetic nervous system, which is part of our body's automatic response system, in a skin condition called rosacea. Rosacea causes redness and inflammation on the face, affecting about 16 million Americans, but the exact cause is not well understood. Researchers want to learn more about how stress and other factors that activate the "fight or flight" response might be connected to the symptoms of rosacea. By understanding this connection better, they hope to develop new and improved treatments for those living with the condition.
To participate in this study, individuals must be otherwise healthy adults aged 18 to 65 who have mild to moderate forms of a specific type of rosacea. Healthy individuals without rosacea can also join as controls. However, people with certain medical conditions, a history of substance abuse, or those who smoke may not be eligible. Participants can expect to undergo assessments related to their condition and the nervous system's function. This research is important as it aims to enhance the understanding of rosacea, which could lead to better care and treatment options for patients.
