ClinConnect Summary
The clinical trial titled "SHame prOpensity in bOrderline Personality Disorder" is exploring how feelings of shame might relate to suicide attempts in people with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). BPD is a mental health condition that affects about 2 to 6% of the population, and unfortunately, around 70% of those with BPD will try to take their own lives at some point. The study aims to follow participants over five years to see if those who feel more shame are more likely to attempt suicide. Researchers are also looking to identify specific groups of patients based on their experiences and overall well-being, as well as potential treatments that could help reduce the risk of suicide.
To join this study, participants must be over 18 years old and have been diagnosed with BPD. They will need to agree to participate and show that they understand the study's purpose and methods. Those in the trial can expect regular evaluations and support as researchers work to uncover valuable insights that could lead to better treatments for BPD. It’s important to note that individuals who are currently in legal custody or have certain protective measures in place may not be eligible for this study.
