ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on helping veterans who have had a lower leg amputation that was not caused by an injury. Specifically, it aims to improve how these veterans walk, as many experience difficulties and pain due to uneven walking patterns. The researchers will test two special training programs designed to help improve walking balance and symmetry. By doing this, they hope to make everyday activities easier and reduce long-term issues related to walking.
To participate in the study, candidates must be veterans with a single, non-injury-related amputation below the knee, and they should have conditions like diabetes or peripheral artery disease. They should also be able to walk in their community without needing help from devices like crutches. Participants can expect to engage in specific training sessions that focus on improving their walking patterns, and they will be monitored for improvements in their overall mobility and skin health of their remaining limb. This trial is currently looking for participants and welcomes veterans of all ages.
