ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the connection between low oxygen levels (called hypoxia) after hip fracture surgery and the development of confusion or delirium in older patients. Delirium is a common issue for older adults following surgery, and the researchers want to understand if low oxygen levels during recovery can lead to more complications in the hospital. The goal is to find out how these factors are related in patients aged 70 and older who are recovering from hip fracture surgery.
To participate in this study, individuals must be over 70 years old, currently hospitalized for hip fracture surgery, and expected to stay in the hospital for at least five nights. They should also be able to provide consent for themselves. However, people who are under guardianship, have different types of fractures, or can't have their oxygen levels monitored due to behavioral issues won't be eligible. Those who join the trial can help researchers learn more about the care of older patients after surgery, which may improve treatment and recovery in the future.
