ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding the factors that contribute to chronic pain that some women experience after having a hysterectomy, which is a surgery to remove the uterus. Researchers are looking into elements like how sensitive the nervous system is, how fear and anxiety may play a role, and how much pressure a person can tolerate before feeling pain. The goal is to identify these factors before surgery so that better care can be provided afterward.
Women aged 21 to 80 who are scheduled for elective abdominal or laparoscopic hysterectomy due to non-cancerous conditions may be eligible to participate. Participants will complete questionnaires and assessments to help the researchers gather important information. Additionally, in a later phase of the study, the team will also explore how heart rate, anxiety levels, and expectations about pain might relate to pain after surgery. This study could lead to better pain management strategies for women recovering from hysterectomy.
