ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two types of hip implants used in surgery for older adults with arthritis: the dual-mobility cup (DM cup) and the unipolar cup. The main goal is to see if one type helps prevent hip dislocations better than the other in patients aged 70 and older who are undergoing hip replacement surgery. Dislocations can be a common issue after hip surgery, and understanding which implant works better could help improve patient outcomes.
To participate in this trial, patients need to be at least 70 years old and eligible for a specific type of hip surgery called total hip arthroplasty (THA) using a cemented cup. They must be able to understand Dutch well enough to follow instructions and complete questionnaires about their health. Participants will receive either the dual-mobility or unipolar cup and will be monitored for a year after surgery to see how well they recover and if they experience any dislocations. This research aims to provide valuable information about the best options for hip surgery in older adults.
