ClinConnect Summary

The RAman For Thyroid cancER trial is studying a new way to help doctors diagnose thyroid cancer by using a special technique called vibrational spectroscopy, specifically Raman spectroscopy. This technique looks at thyroid tissue samples taken from patients who are already having routine biopsies to check for thyroid cancer. The goal is to see if the information gathered from these tests can accurately match the findings from the standard methods doctors use to diagnose cancer, helping to improve diagnosis in the future.

To participate in this trial, patients need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 and must be scheduled for a routine thyroid biopsy. Unfortunately, those who cannot give their consent or are not having a biopsy for thyroid cancer will not be eligible. If you decide to join the trial, you will be contributing to important research that could lead to better ways of diagnosing thyroid conditions. It’s important to know that the trial is not yet recruiting participants, so there will be more information available later on how to get involved.
