ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how the brain works in people with movement disorders like Parkinson's disease and essential tremor. These disorders not only affect movement but can also lead to other issues such as depression, trouble with memory, and difficulty in focusing. The researchers want to understand the brain activity related to both the movement and non-movement symptoms by recording brain activity during routine deep brain stimulation surgery, which is a common treatment for these conditions.
To join the study, participants need to be at least 18 years old and eligible for deep brain stimulation surgery based on a team evaluation. They should have a confirmed diagnosis of Parkinson's disease or essential tremor and be willing to take part in the study activities. Participants can expect to help researchers learn more about how these conditions affect the brain, which could lead to better treatments in the future. It's important to know that those who cannot give informed consent or have other health issues that prevent them from being surgical candidates will not be able to participate.
