ClinConnect Summary
The clinical trial titled "STRONG for Surgery & Strong for Life - Against All Odds" is focused on improving health before cancer surgery, specifically for patients facing urological cancer. Researchers want to see if an intensive program that helps patients make healthier lifestyle choices—like quitting smoking, eating better, and being more active—can reduce risks during and after surgery. This program will be compared to standard care to see which is more effective in helping patients who are scheduled for bladder cancer surgery.
To participate in this trial, you need to be over 18 years old and scheduled for a specific type of surgery called cystectomy due to bladder cancer. You should also be starting a treatment called neoadjuvant chemotherapy and have at least one area of your lifestyle that needs improvement, such as diet or exercise. This study is currently looking for participants, and if you join, you can expect to receive support focused on your health and lifestyle before your surgery. However, it's important to note that this trial cannot include pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, those with certain allergies, or those who can't exercise for medical reasons.
