ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Optimized Recovery After Trauma in Geriatric Patients," is exploring a new care approach designed to help elderly patients recover better after experiencing physical trauma, such as injuries or falls. The trial is testing a method called gero-ERAT, which combines different structured care techniques to see if it can lead to fewer complications, shorter hospital stays, and lower chances of patients needing to return to the hospital. Ultimately, the goal is to help elderly patients regain their independence and improve their quality of life, while also reducing healthcare costs.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be at least 65 years old, currently hospitalized due to a physical injury, and able to understand and speak Swedish. Unfortunately, individuals receiving palliative care or those with cognitive impairments cannot participate. During the trial, participants will share their experiences through interviews and be part of a study comparing traditional care with the new gero-ERAT approach. This research aims to gather valuable information on patient recovery and overall care, helping to shape better healthcare practices for older adults in the future.
