ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new technique for placing gastrostomy tubes, which are used to provide nutrition directly to the stomach when patients cannot eat by mouth. Traditionally, doctors have used a method called the endoscopic pull technique, but this trial is exploring an endoscopic gastropexy technique. This new method involves attaching the stomach to the abdominal wall using three small fasteners, which helps create a stable pathway for the tube. This allows for the immediate placement of a special type of gastrostomy tube called a low-profile button or a gastro-jejunostomy tube, making the process potentially easier and quicker for pediatric patients.
The trial is open to children ages 0 to 17 who need a gastrostomy tube for nutrition. Participants will undergo the new procedure, and researchers will monitor their safety and how well the technique works. It’s important to note that this study is currently recruiting participants, and those who do not meet the criteria will not be eligible. Overall, this trial aims to improve the way gastrostomy tubes are placed in children, which could lead to better outcomes and less discomfort.
