ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the best timing for starting feeding through a tube (called a PEG tube) after it has been placed in patients who are critically ill and on a ventilator. The goal is to find out if starting feeding early after the procedure is safe and beneficial for patients who have undergone surgery or experienced trauma. Researchers hope this will help improve the care of patients in intensive care units (ICUs).
To participate in this trial, adults over 18 years old who are on a ventilator and need a PEG tube may be eligible, as long as they were already able to tolerate feeding through a tube before the procedure. However, patients with certain gastrointestinal issues or who are pregnant, among other criteria, cannot participate. Those who join the study will receive care and monitoring, and their progress will be tracked to see how well they respond to early feeding. This trial is currently recruiting participants.
