ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how the kidneys function in patients with acute kidney injury (AKI) who are receiving a type of dialysis called continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). The researchers want to understand the best conditions for the kidneys during dialysis, especially focusing on what blood pressure is most beneficial. This study involves 20 patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) who are experiencing AKI but are still producing urine. By using special techniques to monitor kidney function, the team hopes to gain insights that could help improve treatment for people with kidney problems.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be adults aged 18 or older who have been diagnosed with stage 2 or 3 AKI, according to specific guidelines. They should also be receiving care in the ICU and able to give informed consent. Patients with an urgent need for dialysis or allergies to certain contrast media used in imaging will not be included. Those who join the study can expect to undergo some tests to monitor their kidney function while receiving CRRT, which could contribute to a better understanding of kidney care in critically ill patients.
