Drug Resistant Epilepsy Mindfulness Self Management

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how a mindfulness program can improve the quality of life for people who have drug-resistant epilepsy, which means their seizures do not respond to standard treatments. In this study, participants will be divided into two groups: one group will take part in the mindfulness program, while the other will follow a self-management program that helps them cope with their condition. The goal is to see if practicing mindfulness can help reduce stress and improve overall well-being for those living with epilepsy.

To join the trial, participants must be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have been diagnosed with drug-resistant epilepsy for at least three months, while also being stable on their current treatment. They should not be planning to have surgery and must be able to provide consent to participate. It's important to note that individuals who already practice mindfulness regularly or have certain mental health conditions may not be eligible. Those who participate can expect to attend sessions where they will learn mindfulness techniques and share their experiences in a supportive group environment. This study aims to create new ways to help improve life for patients with epilepsy.
