ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "Premedication Gastric Ultrasound," aims to study the amount of liquid in the stomach of children who are fasting before surgery. Researchers will use ultrasound, a safe imaging technique, to see how much liquid is in the stomach before and after the child drinks a small dose of premedication, which is medicine given to help calm them before surgery. The goal is to check if the amount of liquid stays low, as expected.
To participate in this study, children aged 0 to 18 years who are generally healthy and scheduled for planned surgery under general anesthesia may be eligible. However, those who do not follow the hospital's fasting guidelines will not be able to take part. If your child joins the study, they will undergo a simple ultrasound procedure to measure the stomach's contents, helping researchers learn more about the safety and effectiveness of premedication in young patients.
