ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effectiveness of two different antibiotics—oral Gemifloxacin and intravenous Cefotaxime—in treating a serious infection called spontaneous bacterial peritonitis, which is an infection in the fluid in the abdomen. The trial aims to find out which treatment works better for patients suffering from this condition. It is currently recruiting participants who are between the ages of 65 and 74 and have been diagnosed with spontaneous bacterial peritonitis.
If you or a family member are interested in participating, it’s important to know that individuals with secondary peritonitis, which is a different type of infection, are not eligible. Participants in this trial will receive either oral or intravenous antibiotics and will be monitored closely throughout the study to assess their response to treatment. This trial could provide valuable information about how to treat this serious condition more effectively.
