ClinConnect Summary

The LIVE Study is a clinical trial designed to explore a treatment called percutaneous stellate ganglion block (PSGB) for patients who have experienced an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, specifically those whose hearts went into a dangerous rhythm called ventricular fibrillation. This study aims to find out if using PSGB can help restore normal heart function more effectively before patients are taken to the hospital. The researchers will also look at whether there are any complications from this treatment.

To participate in the trial, individuals must be between 65 and 74 years old and have suffered an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest with a shockable heart rhythm. However, people whose cardiac arrest was caused by non-medical issues, such as trauma or drowning, or those with certain neck conditions, will not be eligible. Participants in this study can expect to receive the PSGB treatment and be monitored for its effects, helping researchers understand its potential benefits and risks in emergency situations.
