ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new smartphone application designed to help manage gestational diabetes (GDM) during pregnancy. GDM is a type of diabetes that can occur when a woman is pregnant, and managing it well is important for the health of both the mother and the baby. The researchers aim to create an app that is easy to use and culturally relevant for women in Nepal, where GDM is becoming more common. They will also test how well the app works and how easy it is for patients to use.
To participate in this trial, women must be receiving prenatal care at Dhulikhel Hospital, have been diagnosed with GDM, be less than 30 weeks pregnant, own a smartphone, and have internet access at home. Participants should also be able to read and understand Nepali. Unfortunately, women with learning difficulties or vision/hearing impairments cannot join the study. If eligible, participants can expect to use the app to help manage their condition, which may involve tracking their blood sugar levels and receiving health tips tailored to their needs. This trial is important not just for the participants, but also for improving public health strategies in managing GDM in lower-income countries.
