ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Sepsis: From Syndrome to Personalized Care," is focused on understanding sepsis, a serious condition that occurs when the body's response to an infection causes injury to its own tissues. Researchers are looking to study blood samples from patients who may have sepsis, using various tests to identify specific markers related to the condition. They aim to gather information from about 1,500 patients admitted to the emergency department at OUH, Ullevål, particularly those who are being cared for by specialized medical teams for rapid response to sepsis.
To participate in this study, patients need to be admitted to the emergency department and must be under the care of the medical rapid response team or the sepsis rapid response team. If a patient is unable to give consent, their next of kin may provide it instead. Participants can expect to contribute to important research that could lead to better understanding and treatment of sepsis in the future. This study is currently recruiting participants, and it is open to individuals aged 65 and older, regardless of gender.
