ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a new mobile app called "Home to Stay" designed to help patients recover at home after colorectal surgery, which includes surgeries for conditions like cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. The aim is to see if using this app can reduce the number of unexpected hospital visits, such as emergency room trips or readmissions, that patients often face after going home. Researchers will compare two groups of patients: one group will receive standard follow-up care, while the other will use the app to track their recovery and health at home.

To participate in the trial, you need to be at least 18 years old, able to speak and understand English or French, and scheduled to go home after elective colorectal surgery. You will be asked to give your consent to join the study. If you qualify, you can expect to either receive regular follow-up care or use the app to help monitor your recovery. The researchers hope that the app will not only improve your recovery experience and confidence in managing your health but also lead to fewer unplanned hospital visits.
