ClinConnect Summary
**Summary of the Dresden Corneal Disease and Treatment Study**
The Dresden Corneal Disease and Treatment Study is looking at how well certain surgical treatments work for people with corneal diseases, particularly conditions like keratoconus and corneal ectasia. These conditions can cause the cornea—the clear front part of the eye—to become misshapen, leading to blurry vision. The study aims to follow patients over a long period to see how these surgeries, such as corneal cross-linking, help stabilize the cornea and improve vision, especially if the disease is getting worse.
To participate in this study, you need to be between 18 and 74 years old and have been diagnosed with a corneal disease or corneal ectasia. Unfortunately, if you are pregnant or younger than 18, you won't be eligible to join. If you decide to participate, you can expect regular check-ups to monitor your eye health and see how effective the treatment is over time. This study is currently recruiting participants, and it offers a chance to contribute to important research that could help improve care for people with corneal diseases in the future.
