ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "Promoting Healthy Weight Across the Pregnancy and Postpartum Period," is looking at a program designed to help prevent excessive weight gain during pregnancy and the first year after childbirth. The program, known as HEALTH-P2, will be tested in real-life settings through an organization called Parents as Teachers. By studying how well this program works, the trial aims to find ways to reduce obesity and the risk of related health issues like heart disease and diabetes in mothers and their children.
To be eligible for the trial, participants must be women aged 18 to 45 who are pregnant and were overweight or obese before their pregnancy. They should be able to communicate in English or Spanish and be willing to participate in the program until their baby is one year old. Participants can expect to engage in a supportive walking program and receive guidance on maintaining a healthy weight throughout their pregnancy and postpartum period. If you or someone you know might be interested, it's important to note that participants cannot plan to have another baby within the first year after their current baby is born.
