ClinConnect Summary
Researchers are studying a new way to map brain function using high-density EEG (HD-EEG) to identify which brain areas help with movement, sensation, language, emotion, memory, and other thinking skills. The study includes people with epilepsy or brain conditions (like tumors or stroke) as well as healthy volunteers, so scientists can compare how brain activity looks in different groups. This is a diagnostic-type study and does not involve a drug or traditional treatment.
If you participate, you will wear a cap with many tiny sensors to record brain activity for about 60–120 minutes. During the session you might rest, sleep, or do tasks such as looking at pictures, answering questions, speaking, or moving a limb. An MRI scan is also required to pinpoint where activity is happening. To join, you need to be 18 or older, able to consent, and able to complete the tasks. Some neurological or psychiatric conditions might exclude you if they could interfere with the HD-EEG results. The study is open to invitation for enrollment (about 100 participants planned) at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, with an estimated completion around 2028.
