Telemedicine Cancer Survivorship Rural Health Disparities

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a new support program called CARING, which is designed to help people who have recently finished treatment for head and neck cancer, especially those living in rural areas. The program is led by nurses and uses telemedicine, meaning patients can meet with their healthcare providers through video calls from the comfort of their homes. The trial aims to see how effective this program is compared to regular care, how much it costs, and what patients think about using telemedicine for their follow-up care.

To participate in the trial, individuals must be at least 18 years old, have a diagnosis of head and neck cancer, and be within three months of completing their treatment. If eligible, participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: receiving the CARING program in person, through telemedicine, or getting standard care. Throughout the study, participants will answer questions about their needs and quality of life, and their healthcare costs will also be tracked. This research aims to improve support for cancer survivors and make sure their needs are met, especially for those in rural communities.
