ClinConnect Summary
The Community Opioid Innovation Network (JCOIN) trial is focused on improving the support and treatment options for individuals dealing with opioid addiction, especially those who have had interactions with the criminal justice system. The study has two main parts. The first part aims to gather information from treatment staff about how patients are currently referred for help and how medical and community health providers work together. The second part, which is still in the approval process, will recruit participants from 18 community sites across three states. This part will test the Opioid-Treatment Linkage Model (O-TLM), which is designed to enhance the way individuals are screened for opioid use, connect them with effective treatment, and tackle the stigma surrounding addiction.
To be eligible for this study, participants must have a history of opioid use or be at risk for it, and they should be under supervision after being released into a participating community. Staff members involved must play a key role in the process of assessing and referring these individuals for treatment. Participants can expect to share their experiences and insights, which will help improve public health and safety in their communities. The study is currently recruiting and welcomes individuals of all genders aged 65 and older to participate. This trial is important as it seeks to create better pathways to treatment and support for those affected by opioid addiction.
