ClinConnect Summary
The Hormone Replacement Trial Against Alzheimer’s Disease is studying how hormone treatment after menopause may affect memory and thinking skills in women. Researchers want to understand if these hormones can change the levels of certain substances in the blood that are related to Alzheimer’s disease. They are specifically looking at postmenopausal women, both those who have a history of breast cancer and those who do not, to see how hormone therapy might help or harm their brain health.
To participate in this trial, women must be between the ages of 40 and 65 and currently postmenopausal, but not more than 10 years into menopause. They should not have certain health issues, like thyroid problems or a history of alcohol or drug abuse. If eligible, participants can expect to undergo tests that will help researchers gather important information about how menopause and hormone treatment may relate to Alzheimer's disease. This study is currently recruiting participants, so it's a great opportunity for eligible women to contribute to important research on this topic.
