ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on improving how we diagnose infectious diseases in children. Infectious diseases can be serious and often lead to significant health issues in children, so it's crucial to identify the cause quickly to provide the right treatment. Currently, doctors use methods that can take a long time and might not detect all the possible germs causing the illness. This study is testing a new approach called metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS), which can quickly analyze small samples to find out what infection is present. Researchers want to see how well this method works in diagnosing infections in children and how it affects treatment outcomes.
To be eligible for this trial, children who are suspected of having serious infections like sepsis, respiratory issues, central nervous system infections, or unexplained fevers may participate. However, children with certain conditions, such as congenital malformations or those needing surgery, cannot join. Participants in the trial will undergo tests using this new mNGS method, and their results will help researchers understand its effectiveness compared to traditional diagnostic methods. This study is currently recruiting participants and aims to enhance the way we diagnose and treat infections in children, ultimately improving their health care.
