ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how artificial intelligence (AI) can help evaluate gum health by using selfies taken inside the mouth. The focus is on patients with gingivitis, a common and mild form of gum disease that, if left untreated, can progress to more severe issues like periodontitis, which can lead to tooth loss. The trial aims to improve how we monitor and treat gum disease by using AI to analyze photographs of the gums, making it easier for both patients and dentists to manage oral health effectively.
To be eligible for the study, participants must be adults aged 65 to 74 who have been diagnosed with gingivitis and have at least 24 teeth. They should be generally healthy and able to attend multiple dental visits. Those who are experiencing dental pain, or have certain oral health issues or medical conditions, will not be included. Participants can expect to have their gum health monitored over time, with standardized photos taken and analyzed to track improvements or changes in their condition. This innovative approach aims to provide better, more timely care for gum health, ultimately reducing the risk of serious complications.
