ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, called KPro-HP-Endo, is studying a new approach to help patients who need a special type of eye surgery called the Boston keratoprosthesis (KPro). This surgery is often needed for people with severe eye problems, but it can come with complications like the formation of membranes behind the prosthetic eye and increased eye pressure. The researchers believe that using a technique called endoscopy, which allows doctors to see better during surgery, will help remove a specific membrane, potentially reducing these complications. The goal is to see if this method can lead to better outcomes and less vision loss for patients.

To participate in this trial, you need to be between 18 and 80 years old and be a candidate for both the Boston keratoprosthesis and a procedure called pars plana vitrectomy, which involves surgery on the back part of the eye. If you join the study, you will receive close monitoring throughout the trial to track your recovery and any complications. This trial is currently recruiting participants of all genders and aims to improve the quality of life for those undergoing this complex eye surgery.
