ClinConnect Summary

The Alaska Oculocardiac Reflex Study is a clinical trial that is looking at how certain eye surgeries, specifically those involving the movement of eye muscles, affect heart rate and other vital signs. This study is important because it will help doctors understand how these procedures can influence a patient's heart, especially during surgery for conditions like strabismus, where the eyes don’t properly align.

If you or a loved one is scheduled for eye surgery that involves manipulating the eye muscles, you might be eligible to participate in this study, as long as there are no other eye conditions like anophthalmia (which means having no eye). Participants will be observed during their surgery, and researchers will monitor vital signs, particularly heart rate, to gather important information. This study is currently recruiting participants of all genders and ages, so if you are interested, it may be a good opportunity to contribute to medical knowledge in this area.
