ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a new type of device called a capillary endoscopy aspiration catheter, which is designed to help doctors collect fluid samples from the small intestine more efficiently. The small intestine is an important area for research on bacteria that live in our bodies, but collecting samples from it can be tricky with current tools. This new catheter is inspired by how plants drink water and aims to improve the way fluid is suctioned during endoscopy, making it faster and less likely to be contaminated.

To participate in this study, you need to be between 18 and 85 years old and scheduled for an esophagogastroduodenoscopy, which is a procedure that allows doctors to examine the upper part of the digestive system. The trial will involve two groups of patients, where one will use the standard catheter and the other will use the new capillary catheter. Each group will have 23 participants, and the researchers will compare how long it takes to collect samples and how much fluid is gathered. There are no specific health conditions that would exclude you from participating, as the procedures are being done for medical reasons. This study could help improve future methods of studying the small intestine and its bacteria.
