ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how training healthcare providers in cervical exams affects the care that pregnant women receive during labor and delivery. The goal is to see if this training can help reduce the number of cervical exams performed and improve the consistency of these exams among different healthcare providers. Cervical exams are important checks done during labor to assess the progress of delivery, but too many can cause discomfort for the mother.
To participate in this trial, healthcare providers such as doctors, midwives, and nurses who work in the Labor and Delivery unit at Wake Forest Baptist Birth Center will need to complete the training. Pregnant women receiving care in the same unit may also be involved, as long as they do not have specific conditions that would make cervical exams unsafe, like placenta previa or vasa previa. If you’re a healthcare provider or a pregnant woman receiving care at this center, you might be eligible to participate and help improve the care for future patients.
