ClinConnect Summary
The COLETTE study is researching severe brain conditions called status epilepticus and dysimmune encephalitis. These conditions can cause prolonged seizures and other serious neurological problems. The goal of the study is to collect blood, cerebrospinal fluid (the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord), and tissue samples from patients with these conditions, as well as from healthy individuals. This will help researchers understand what causes these disorders and how they affect the brain.
To participate, patients must be at least 2 years old and either have status epilepticus or epilepsy related to dysimmune encephalitis. They should also be part of the French social security system and provide consent to join the study. Participants can expect to undergo tests that involve the collection of samples, which will be used to advance knowledge about these conditions. It’s important to note that pregnant women and certain patients with specific medical issues cannot take part in the study. This research aims to improve our understanding of these serious conditions and could potentially lead to better treatments in the future.
