ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "PrEP for Health," is looking at a new way to help people who inject drugs and are at risk of HIV. The researchers want to see if a special program that includes education about HIV and PrEP (a medication that can help prevent HIV) can improve the number of people who start and continue taking PrEP. In this study, 200 participants will be randomly assigned to either receive the new program with extra support and guidance or the standard information about PrEP. The goal is to find out how well this new approach works in getting people to use PrEP and stick with it over time.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be HIV-negative, have injected drugs in the past month, and have engaged in at least one risky behavior related to HIV. They should not be currently taking or have taken PrEP before. Participants should also be able to understand and speak either English or Spanish. Throughout the trial, participants can expect support and education about PrEP, and their progress in using the medication will be monitored over several months. This study is currently recruiting and aims to make important advancements in HIV prevention for those at risk.
