ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how well the immune system responds to surgery in patients undergoing aortic valve replacement, a type of heart surgery. Researchers want to understand if a stronger immune response before surgery can lead to better outcomes afterward, such as fewer infections and shorter hospital stays. They plan to study 150 patients and will collect blood samples at various times during and after the surgery to see how their immune systems react.
To participate in this trial, patients must be at least 18 years old and scheduled for their first aortic valve replacement surgery. Those with certain health issues, like ongoing infections, immune disorders, or who are pregnant, will not be eligible. Participants won't have to endure extra needle insertions beyond what is necessary for their surgery. The findings from this study could help improve care for heart surgery patients, potentially leading to better ways to support their immune systems during recovery.
