ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new approach called Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) for people who frequently visit the emergency department due to alcohol misuse. The goal is to see if this program can help reduce the number of emergency visits and improve overall health for those struggling with alcohol use. The researchers will be looking at around 200-300 patients over a year to track changes in their hospital visits and the costs associated with their care.
To be eligible for the study, participants must be at least 21 years old, speak English or Mandarin, and have made multiple emergency visits related to alcohol in the past year. They should not be currently receiving treatment from a specific addiction service. If someone joins the trial, they can expect to receive support through the ACT program, which aims to reduce their alcohol use, help them feel less isolated, and improve their motivation and health. This study is important because it could lead to better care for those affected by alcohol misuse and could help save costs for the healthcare system.
