ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new way to help teenagers reduce unhealthy drinking habits and make safer choices when it comes to riding or driving under the influence of alcohol. Researchers are testing a computer-based screening and brief intervention system that pediatricians can use during regular check-ups to talk to adolescents about alcohol use. The goal is to see if this approach can help prevent risky behaviors related to drinking among young people.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be between 14 and 17 years old, have reported drinking alcohol at some point in their life, or have been in a vehicle with someone who was under the influence in the past year. They should also have their own cell phone and be willing to share their number. Participants can expect to complete some activities before their visit and will receive support from their healthcare provider during the process. This study is important because it could lead to better ways to address alcohol use in adolescents, potentially impacting many young people across the country.
