ClinConnect Summary
The EMBRACE Study is a clinical trial aimed at understanding a serious heart condition called cardiomyopathy, which can occur in some women after they receive a specific type of cancer treatment known as anthracycline therapy for breast cancer. This condition can make the heart muscle weak and affect how well it pumps blood. The study wants to find out if changes in the heart's energy balance happen before patients notice any problems with their heart's pumping ability. By identifying these changes early, researchers hope to develop ways to prevent heart issues from getting worse.
To participate in this study, you need to be a woman aged between 65 and 74 who has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is about to start her first cycle of anthracycline treatment. Healthy volunteers of the same age and gender are also welcome to join. Participants will undergo tests, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), to help researchers gather information about heart health. It's important to note that this trial is currently recruiting participants, and anyone with certain heart devices may not be eligible.
