ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how virtual reality (VR) goggles can help reduce pain and anxiety in children and young adults aged 5 to 21 during a procedure called venipuncture, which is when a needle is used to draw blood. The study will compare two groups: one group will receive standard care, which includes a numbing cream applied before the procedure, while the other group will receive the same care plus the VR goggles. By using the goggles, researchers hope to see if they can make the experience less stressful and painful for the patients.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be between 5 and 21 years old and admitted to a specific hospital unit for a blood draw. However, some children may not be able to participate if they have certain conditions, like recent surgeries or specific health issues that prevent them from using the VR equipment. Participants and their families can expect to be part of a supportive environment where their comfort is a priority, and their experiences will be carefully monitored. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it's a great opportunity to explore a new way to help kids feel more at ease during medical procedures.
