ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the use of a special therapy called Closed Incision Negative Pressure Therapy (CINPt) to see if it can help prevent infections at the site of surgery after emergency abdominal operations. The goal is to determine if using this therapy can improve recovery for patients by reducing complications like infections, which can lead to longer hospital stays. Additionally, the researchers want to explore any cost benefits associated with using this therapy.

To be eligible for the study, participants must be adults who have had a specific type of surgery (an emergency median laparotomy) and have a wound that is at least 10 centimeters long. Other criteria include having a proper closure of the abdominal wall and skin after surgery and signing an informed consent form. However, individuals with certain conditions, such as those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have specific allergies, will not be able to participate. If you take part in this study, you can expect to follow the study procedures and contribute to understanding how to improve care after major surgeries.
