ClinConnect Summary
The Academic-Community EPINET (AC-EPINET) trial is a research study looking at how different types of mental health services can help young adults with serious mental health conditions, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depression with psychotic features. Specifically, the study compares two approaches: one that provides services directly in the community (called CSC-TH) and another that offers services in traditional clinics (called CSC-SD). The goal is to see which method helps patients engage more effectively with their treatment and leads to better health outcomes over a period of 12 months.
To participate in this study, individuals need to be between 16 and 35 years old, capable of understanding the study and giving their consent, and newly enrolled in one of the participating clinical programs. They should also have experienced the onset of their mental health condition within the last five years. Participants can expect to be randomly assigned to one of the two service types and will be followed for a year to assess their progress. This trial is currently recruiting participants of all genders, and it's an important opportunity to contribute to understanding how to improve care for young people with severe mental health challenges.
